چکیده

Background: In diagnostic radiography, selection of kVp and mAs to produce acceptable image quality with a minimum dose has been challenge even for experience radiographers. The aim this study was determine optimal exposure factors lumbar spine AP examinations in computed radiograph using dose-image analysis. Materials Methods: A female anthropomorphic phantom used analysis the (mAs kVp) AP. Indirect method estimate entrance skin (ESD) phantom. values 70, 80, 90 and100 were selected while 16, 18, 20,22,25, 28,32, 36, 40, 45 50 also acquisition all images. Three (3) senior radiographers evaluated criteria set up by European Commission. Results: result indicated that score increased as ESD (mGy) increased. However, there no significant change between 1.941 4.882 mGy. 70 22 accepted standard body size radiography (CR). Conclusion: Optimization (kVp mAs) is necessary radiographic ensure safe use radiation medicine. It ensures effective patient management because high can be obtained information.

New computed radiography processing condition for whole-spine radiography.

Computed radiography (CR) has many advantages compared with conventional radiographs, especially in image processing. Although CR is being used in chest radiography and mammography, it has not been applied to spine imaging. The purposes of this study were to formulate a set of new CR processing parameters and to test whether the resultant whole-spine radiographs visualized the spine more clearl...

Beam Collimation during Lumbar Spine Radiography: A Retrospective Study

Introduction: Collimating the primary beam to the area of diagnostic interest (ADI) has been strongly recommended as an effective method to reduce patient’s radiation dose and to improve image quality during radiology practice. Lack or inadequate collimation results in excessive radiation dose to patients and deterioration image quality. Objective: To assess the quality of beam collimation dur...

Entrance skin dose assessment of selected computed radiography facilities in Ghana

Background: The basic challenge with computed radiography (CR) systems is the large dynamic range which provides an opportunity for radiographers to gradually increase exposure factors and still produce good image quality, a practice that can lead to dose creep. Materials and Methods: The aim of this study was to establish  the entrance skin dose (ESD) values for nine selected examinations in t...

Computed tomography in the postoperative lumbar spine.

A retrospective review of computed tomograms (CT) was performed in eight patients who underwent surgery for presumed reherniation of a lumbar disc. The CT scan in the three patients with surgically proven extradural scarring and no disc herniation, demonstrated distinct characteristics of perineural fibrosis which differed markedly from the uniform changes seen on the scans of the five patients...
